Why do I see both recessed and surface floor strikes?
Recessed floor strikes are preferred for vertical-rod pairs; surface strikes are used where recessing isn’t feasible.

Do the checklists cover fire doors?
Yes—provided the device + strikes/keepers + fixings match the door’s certification.
