Design warehouse exit routes that open fast, relatch reliably and pass inspection. Use Exit Devices EN 1125 touch bars on public or visitor-accessible routes and Exit Devices EN 179 devices on staff-only internal link doors. EKIN maps each door to the right configuration, with matched accessories and fire-door documentation.
Exit Devices Exit Devices EN 1125 (Public Access): Full-width touch bar; anyone can operate without prior knowledge. Typical on external emergency exits, main corridors and high-traffic routes across the warehouse floor.

1) Wide paired exits on aisles or near assembly points (public):
Exit Devices EN 1125 vertical-rod pairs with head keepers and recessed floor strikes for two-point latching and stable relatching under vibration and heavy trolleys.
If a centre mullion is used, consider paired rim devices with mullion keepers.

2) External single emergency exits on perimeter walls (public):

Strikes & keepers to suit thresholds and slab details: recessed floor strikes for durability, or surface strikes where recessing isn’t possible. Include mullion keepers for paired rim configurations.

Match approvals: device + strikes/keepers + fixings must align with the door certificate (especially on fire doors).
Maintain clear signage and keep hardware unobstructed by racking, pallets or bump rails.
Keep an inspection log (operating force, relatching, fixings, signage) at planned intervals.

A fulfilment centre replaced mixed hardware with Exit Devices EN 1125 vertical-rod pairs on main aisle exits (recessed floor strikes) and EN 1125 rim on perimeter singles with outside trims for supervisor re-entry. EN 179 devices were used on internal plant rooms. The site passed audit with fewer call-outs due to improved keeper seating.
Q1: Vertical-rod or rim for paired exits?
If there is no centre mullion, choose vertical-rod for two-point latching. With a centre mullion, paired rim devices with mullion keepers are appropriate.
Q2: Recessed floor strike or surface strike?
Use a recessed floor strike where the slab allows a pocket and protection plate; otherwise specify a surface strike rated for the finished floor and traffic.
Q3: Can we use Exit Devices EN 179 on warehouse exits?
Only on staff-only internal doors. Public or mixed-use routes require Exit Devices EN 1125.
Q4: Are these devices fire-door compatible?
Many are, but approvals must match your door certificate—including strikes/keepers and fixings.
Q5: What causes slow return after forklift traffic?
Often keeper misalignment, slab movement or loose fixings. Re-check the template, latch throw and closer speed; tighten progressively and log the adjustments.
